Following on from the previous chapter, as soon as Simon, Jack and Ralph comes down from the mountain, they immediately made a meeting by blowing the conch. Ralph confirms to all of the survivors, that there are no adults on the island and they should make their own rules to survive. Soon after, Ralph comforted the survivors, by reassuring them that his dad is a Navy person and will find them very soon. The group then turned into a loud choir of orchestra, this is when Ralph came up with an idea that, whoever was holding the conch, only has the permission to talk.
Piggy, the person who have helped and supported Ralph from the beginning, who was elected for the chief of the group, got very frustrated as Ralph was crossing the line. Piggy immediately confronted Ralph and lectured him, for everything that he has done for him, and yelled out to the remaining that they wont be rescued as this is a deserted island and no one would find them. Silence grew among the group, out of nowhere a very young and innocent boy, exclaimed that he saw a snakelike animal which he called 'beastie' could be prowling across the island. Ralph, thinking of various options of how to they could be rescued. He converses with the group that they could make a signal by making a fire on top of a mountain, so that if any transport pass by them could see them. Without having second thoughts, all the boys rushed to the mountain and collecting dead wood to build the fire. |
Prediction:
I assume the next chapter that maybe, the survivor may have a meeting to have a survival plan and allocate jobs to each individual. By judging the name of the next chapter, "Huts on the Beach" I presume that the boys may find a long lost huts, and use it as their for shelter, as long as they live there. Maybe in this chapter, the boys are more focus on their survival plan, and didn't quite remember the fire and the fire burnt down, therefore maybe causing conflicts and quarrels amongst the survivors.

Opinion:
In my opinion, the Chapter 2 of the book is not interesting like the first one. If i personally was trapped on an island, of course i would make signal of fire to notify any transportation passing by to rescue us. I really expected from this book, as so far for me just by reading each of the chapter's name is so predictable of what is going to happen next in the book. Therefore, this book is really boring to me and hopefully it will get better from this chapter and on.
